Start by choosing the selling route that fits you

Vancouver vehicle owners generally choose between a private sale, a trade-in or a direct sale to a dealer. A private sale may suit someone willing to advertise, answer inquiries, arrange test drives and manage the paperwork. A trade-in combines selling and buying another vehicle. A direct dealer offer is often the simplest route when speed, certainty and less back-and-forth matter.

Your Vehicle Pro is the direct-purchase service operated by Granville Island Auto Centre, a licensed Vancouver dealer. We assess everyday cars, trucks and SUVs as well as classics and specialty vehicles. There is no obligation to accept an offer.

A useful first step

Send the year, make, model, kilometres, condition, postal code and loan status. Clear photos help us understand the vehicle before an in-person appraisal.

What affects the offer for your vehicle?

An informed appraisal looks at more than the year and odometer. The model, trim, equipment, service history, accident history, mechanical condition, exterior and interior condition, tire condition and current market all matter. A well-kept higher-kilometre vehicle can be more attractive than a lower-kilometre example with unclear history or major needs.

Information worth gathering

  • VIN, current registration and exact trim or equipment package;
  • current kilometres and a truthful description of mechanical or cosmetic issues;
  • service records, recent repair invoices and available keys;
  • accident or claim information you know about; and
  • the lender name and approximate payout if money is still owing.

You do not need to repair every scratch before requesting an offer. Disclose what you know and let the buyer assess whether a repair would actually improve the value enough to justify its cost.

Prepare for a safe, straightforward sale

Remove personal belongings and sensitive documents, but keep the ownership and service information available. Before any test drive or handover, confirm who you are dealing with and do not release the vehicle merely because someone shows a screenshot of a payment.

When selling privately, ICBC recommends preparing the vehicle, gathering its history and completing the required transfer documents. The seller should keep the licence plates, because plates stay with the seller rather than the vehicle. ICBC also advises that a newly purchased vehicle must be registered by the buyer within 10 days.

Common questions from Vancouver sellers

Do you buy vehicles that need repairs?

Yes, we consider imperfect, higher-mileage and non-running vehicles as well as well-kept vehicles. Describe the issue honestly so we can assess it properly.

Can I sell if the car is financed?

Often, yes. We need the lender and current payout information. The payout must be addressed as part of the transaction before the lien can be cleared.

Do I need an appointment?

You can begin online at any time. For an in-person appraisal, contacting us first is recommended.
